Hi, gang! It's me, Gish!
I'm here today to bring to you attention that the comm has a new rule! You can see it here. What it shakes down is:
All posts must contain a question that other characters can answer!
This is a spiritual carry-over from the Nexus RP of yore back on LJ, and including it in the rules seems wise since not all of us are familiar with the old format that many of us have long since taken for granted. This rule and format is vital for people to be able to interact meaningfully with other characters.
There are exceptions to the rule, of course, largely with events that have already been given clearance. And questions don't always have to be verbalized; one can be presented in the form of a narrative, assuming your character's actions alone are enough of a hook for someone to approach. Examples of this:
[GOOD]: Bobo the Character is digging through the trash and making a mess everywhere! The question is, who's going to stop him? Is it YOU?
[BAD]: Bobo the Character is brooding in silence in the corner, not speaking, perfectly hidden, hard to see or stumble across. Wanna chat with Bobo?
The first gives others a clear action to be taken, while the second puts the onus of coming up with content/hooks on the person replying to you. And that just ain't cricket!
Requiring questions makes your posts accessible and interesting for someone to want to interact with you! Posts that don't contain them will not count as a rule infraction unless the poster is a repeat offender. However, you will be contacted by a mod and reminded to read the rules.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us in the comments or send a PM!
