We're back, baby! Plot Roundup December 2020

Welcome one and all, new players and old, to the rebirth of Plot Round-up!

We have completely revamped this from its original creation so even if you've been here a while Please Read The Post before replying. This will be the format of the Plot Round-up going forward. Please note any changes are not retroactive so do not fret if old submissions are no longer above board as it were. This is the ruleset we will be using from now on.

It’s been a while since we organized one of these, but it’s back to bring you a chance to kick back with more delicious spyreading! A lot has been happening for the characters of the Nexus both in and outside the main comm! Once again we’re inviting you to show your fellow players what your characters have been getting up to! Simply follow the format below and tag with a plot summary and links to the relevant prose and threads – then enjoy checking out the latest storylines! Just make sure to check out our handy FAQ below.

Since we haven't had one of these in a while for This Post anything that is important throughout 2020 will be considered appropriate for submission. Going forward we will be doing monthly plot roundups and at that time only new or ongoing threads will be considered appropriate to submit.

Submit One Comment per character with a collection of links (in chronological order) to important threads they have been a part of as well as a summary of the plot involved. In the subject of the comment include your character's name.

Why do we do this? For spy-reading, of course! It helps everyone in the comm stay abreast of each other's plots, especially as the size of our comm grows. It's also a good way to make sure your hard work is admired by others.

What is relevant: Any prose, private storyline/plot pieces, monthly prompts, community threads, or solo pieces which took place on personal journals or which were reposted onto personal journals from chat apps, etc. The pieces must be considered canon for characters as they are played in the Nexus (ie: No links to memes which were just for fun, etc.) If important Nexus-Canon development has occurred in a meme post that thread MUST be linked here to be considered canon in game going forward, but submissions from other DW games are not allowed under any circumstance. All submitted links should be considered significant to your character's growth or a plot in some way.

For community posts you must link to the important threads you wish to submit. We want to encourage people to spy-read the best parts of your characters' lore and to do that we need to be able to point to where these happened. No one is going to read through a 500+ comment party post for one thread your character was in. Please keep this in mind! The only exception to this is if your character made a top-level Nexus post that has multiple important threads. Please feel free in that case to only link the post once, but the summary Must include which threads are must-reads and why!

How should I list my threads? Please utilize a title for each link to label each submission using the < a href... formatting. This will help cut down on the confusion of having just a list of raw links with no indication as to what each of them is for.

Finally:
Each thread should be submitted only once per player so if you have multiple muses involved in a single thread make mention to who else they impact on the first submission of a thread and then perhaps refer to that in the next character's summary!

Crowdsourcing Science!

In which our plucky heroine a mad scientist Liv first discovers and begins her testing within the Nexus. Notable threads include boldygoing's Jim Kirk giving Liv access and a basic understanding of PINpoints, rogueinladysclothing's Amelia instructing her on Alternates and the fun ways that can go awry, and time_consuming's Cronus beginning a new potential business partnership with her. What could possibly go wrong??

And Then Liv Buys Quantum Magnets

Part of being in the Nexus is having access to other worlds' tech! Liv has acquired from debonairsharpshooter's Misfire magnets which do not stay in one phase of reality which she surely cannot study for any possible nefarious reason!

Thor Odinson

In Trees and Men Good Timbers Grow: Thor has a very important vision, and receives a gift from beyond the mortal realm.

The Wheel Turns, The Sun Rises: After his vision, Thor takes his new baby ravens to the Nexus to ask about names and natures. Notable threads include Death (welcomingembrace), Amelia (rogueinladysclothing), and Loki (magpiemythos).

Ship of Nails part 5: Loki (coldsong) meets Thor for a final time before returning to his home universe to help the Avengers.

A Visitor To The Garden: Loki (tr1ckortreat) visits Asvera and gets a tour.

Harley Quinn

Harley kills Joker after dealing with him finding his way to the Nexus, and many misfortunes due to her ex-lover

A girl's only roller derby game is held, where Harley tries to keep her mind occupied.

in which our heroine is fed up: Harley offers Penelope contrivings an out-of-the-box option to deal with her suitors.

Accepting friendship in a time of darkness. Harley has good conversations with a few different people, admitting that she is still not in a good mental place. And maybe never will be.

Harley comes to terms to who she is as a person. She decides to embrace her violent side. Engages in battle with Ben and Amelia.

Ben Solo

Kylo vs. Jason - Ben introduces himself to the Nexus by picking a fight with Jason Voorhees (mrhix).

Refocusing -Fresh to the Nexus, Ben recieves some helpful advice from Isidor Durant (heirtothedragonsfire).

+1 Former Space Tyrant - Ben sets time aside to explore the Nexus proper, leading to encounters with his father Han (twelve_not_fourteen), his mother Leia (solobutnotalone), Lucifer (the_rebel_son), fellow recovering darksider Dia'ndria Starfall, (pathfromdarknesstogray) and Rey (jedied). His dyad with Rey returns to strength, he agrees to help Dia fix her grounded ship, and Han offers to help Ben get a job.

Coffee with Grandpa - Ben meets Darth Vader (dorkvader). Never meet your heroes.

One Space Girl - On a visit to the Nexus Rey (jedied) gives Ben his old kyber crystal, allowing him to construct a new lightsaber.

A Wild Skywalker Has Appeared - Ben and Dia (pathfromdarknesstogray) get to know each other a little better. With lightsabers.

Ben and the Firebird - Ben meets and befriends Psycho Mantis (ginger_firebird), another psychic with a troubled past.

Foxhound - Ben and Psycho Mantis (ginger_firebird) talk over gifts and food.

Spooky Scary Skeletons - After a PINpoint accident, Ben helps Atreus (skyti) take care of a pest problem in Midgard.

The Patricide - Struggling with guilt, Ben makes a confession to Loki (coldsong).

Scavenging - With help from Blaze-37 (rekindledtitan), Ben finds a treasure.

Joining the Pack - With some help from Ravage (dontpetmeibite) and Laserbeak (alilbirbtoldme), Ben becomes an auxiliary Decepticon.

Taking Flight - Ben has a new friend, who meets the Decepticons and Harley Quinn (sweetcandygirl).

Between Darkness and Light - Guardian Katiri (spacetaser) consults Ben on how to deal with a frightening new power to combat Eramis, the Kell of the Fallen House of Salvation.

A Knight of Ghosts and Shadows - Ben and Loki (coldsong) have a conversation.

The Dawning - Ben is invited to the Last City on Earth to check up on things with Katiri (spacetaser) and meet a few of her friends (thread ongoing).

Isamu and Minoru

The Plaza is Lava - in which Minoru makes himself known in the Nexus with a fun game of parkour and makes many new friends. Thanks to Harley (sweetcandygirl), he now knows freeskating is a thing.

Meeting new friends:
- Mantis(ginger_firebird)
- Aal(delphicbooksandbaubles)
- Fujin (god_of_wind), whose tea shop becomes a favorite hangout for the twins
- Lucifer(the_rebel_son), in which Minoru bit off more than he could climb, literally.

Writing prompt headcanon of how Minoru meets Ziggy (ziggyplayedguitar), where plenty of confusing feelings occur.

Intervention Needed for Ziggy (TW for drug/alcohol abuse, suicidal thoughts, etc.), where Minoru finds Ziggy (ziggyplayedguitar) after Hiroki's "death"

Hiroki (somekindofspaceuncle) let's Minoru in on a little secret - that he'll be proposing to Ziggy as they become fast friends.

At Loki's Halloween party, the twins dress in Hogwarts robes and get magical powers for the night. Minoru becomes a parselmouth and can talk to his pet butterball python Kazumi. Plotworthy threads include:
- a magic duel with Sailor Harley (sweetcandygirl)
- two different run-ins with a sphinx (the_rebel_son)
- Minoru chatting and making s'mores with his friend, Aal (delphicbooksandbaubles)
- Taking Five (oldmanfive) for a spin on a broom
- Learning not to drink Angel Booze, thanks Balthazar (angelic_asshole)

Meeting Astaroth (starryeyedangel) opens some old childhood grudges between Isamu and Minoru, leading to some writing prompt introspection where the twins are brought closer. Minoru decides to go back to school to be a PTA, Isamu commits to supporting his brother's goals far better.

Balthazar's (angelic_asshole) bar opens and Minoru Rocks the Stripper Pole without ever taking any clothes off and parkours around the place with Jack (apocalypsejack). Hooligan friendships are made, and freeskating is DEFINITELY a thing!

Minoru was technically warned about what to expect from the Ziggy Stardust concert. But that didn't stop him from wanting to experience it... and things go from high to worse (TW for Drug Use and Relationship Drama) as misunderstandings abounded between Ziggy (ziggyplayedguitar) and Minoru. Isamu finds Tommy (iamjustvisiting) to be a very pleasant conversationalist, though.

After the party, Isamu and Minoru seek out Tom (hellomajortom) for advice on how to overcome those misunderstandings. In addition to taking that advice, Minoru also buys a potion from Hermione (mudblood_andproud) that can lessen the effect of Ziggy's powers. He has yet to use it. Isamu also finds Hermione to be a very fascinating individual.

A Wedding in Bruma

Back at the start of the year, having previously tied the knot in Jim’s universe, Felix and smartass_captain finally appeased Felix’s family the gods of Tamriel by getting married there too. It took months of preparation and adventures rounding up guests. This being a Cyrodillic wedding thrown by a reasonably well-off mage family, it involved a lot of ceremony, free food, and a dash or two of politics.

I: Unfamiliar Ground The day before. The couple’s friends and family keep them out of trouble; Felix receives some paternal advice.

II : By the Eight and One Ceremony! So much officially approved ceremony!

III: A Feast for the Heart Party time! Jim’s crew and boldlygoing study a fascinating alien culture mingle, mages engage in one-upmanship.

IV: Now and Forever There’s just one last person to talk to before it’s official…

The celebrations wrapped up with a reception in the Nexus to celebrate with friends old and new. Highlights for Felix include making up with Isidor Durant (heirtothedragonsfire) by arranging a dance, seeking out Runa Durant volurofthehearth to sow trouble for Harley Quinn (sweetcandygirl) after noticing her flirting with his new husband, and the Orc vs. Death Knight arm-wrestling contest with westfallcorndog.

Return to Rielle

Felix screwed over quite a few people during his time being possessed by a pair of murderous necromantic Runeblades. Stealing rare tomes from the College of Whispers and leaving a friend of his to take the blame was one he didn’t even remember – not until he had an irate fellow mage demanding answers (and some help to fix it). Unfortunately, said tomes now reside in the one place he and his loved ones never wanted to return…

Personal Dilemmas An upset Felix seeks anonymous advice from the Nexus about his ethical dilemma and winds up confiding in Kav Norn (betashiftblues).

Playing With Shadows I Reaching the conclusion that he can’t ask his family to suffer for him, Felix goes back to Rielle by himself and tries a conjurer’s solution to fix his mistake. Trouble is, it turns out PTSD and delicate new summoning spells mesh very, very poorly…

Playng With Shadows II A previous bargain pays off to help Felix escape, but he’s in bad shape by the time he makes it home to a horrified Jim. Later on the Enterprise, the captain later has some Things to say to his spouse.

The Other Half | Jim Kirk

Aside from Jim Arranging what little pseudo family (with boldygoing) he could for the wedding Felix has already beautifully summarized here, life has gone back to business as usual on an exploratory space faring vessel for Jim Kirk-Caelus.

Or at least, it would have done if Felix hadn't left unfinished business in Rielle. Taking place after the playing with shadows set Jim ventures back into the Nexus and runs into An Old acquaintance in Matt Murdock (he_put_the_devil_in_me) while trying to help Felix during his recovery from his injuries.

Finally, Jim's mother has reached out finally asking to reunite with her estranged son and his new husband. Old wounds are picked at until they're raw and the captain's still unsure how he's going to handle this.
