Dreams and Wishes

Hello, everyone! I’m C, your current Sariss player (and more characters to come, because you’ve all been lovely) and I’ve got a curiosity I’d like to put to all of you.

I think we’ve all got ideas for roleplay we’d like to do that, so far, haven’t come to pass. Maybe it was just a wish for castmates, or a specific sort of plot you haven’t gotten to do, or some grand design you’ve never been able to enact. Or that super idea that you’ve never quite been able to make come together, or there’s just a piece missing you can’t figure out.
So let’s share all of those! Post about your character(s) and your goals for them, and the dreams and wishes you’d have for them! Everyone else can comment, join in, and talk about how great your ideas are if nothing else. Maybe someone else in the comm can help you workshop an idea or give a character you both know a try – if we’re extremely lucky, we’ll make at least a couple of those wishes come true!

I’ll start it off. I’ll preface this by saying that I’m 100% certain this will never come to pass, but I always loved this idea. (And if I wrote fic, I’d have figured out how to do it already!) Back in my University days, I minored in Classics. I love the rare occasions I’ve gotten to translate classic myths from any culture into RP as a result.

So I always wanted to create an analogy of the Furies from Greek mythology with two other Force-user characters from the Star Wars universe. The Furies were sisters; punishers of mortals for their sins, each with specific areas of authority. Sariss would be one. (standing in for Megaera, punisher of oath-breakers, infidelity, and theft) The next would be Juhani, from the first Knights of the Old Republic game. (standing in for Alecto, punisher of moral crimes) Last would be Asajj Ventress from the Clone Wars series (as Tisiphone, punisher of murderers).

(The specific comparisons are there for any fellow mythology nuts out there!)

I just like the idea of these Force Furies functioning either as a sort of secret group or just uniting as friends/allies out of common interest and background. That the other two are fantastic characters I’d love to rp with is a huge bonus.

So what’s your dream or wish? Basically, let's talk characters!

The expedition could be a lot of fun! I think it would be a great opportunity for CR, exploration, and characters working together. skekSa likes the Baron's company, but for a practical expedition she would probably pick Sariss for help. XD

I have a Vergere somewhere gathering dust, and one of my goals is to review the old EU, so I might come out of it with more SW characters to play. I probably will, since I have fond memories of it. I do have some EU characters I'd be curious about playing once I have a better grip on their characterizations.

I've heard of that sub. Musemostwanted, I think?

Yep, that was it. To my shock, it appears to still be going. Not much from when I started out still is, so that was a nice surprise.

And yeah, the Baron is fun to play for the romance of it, by which I mean 'romance' in the old-fashioned sense. He's a strong go-to when you just need some absurdity in life. Not at all the right person to, say, be looking for pit traps.

Also, if you need some help getting your hands on cheap EU stuff (since used book stores are, alas, out of bounds at present), I can point you in a direction or two.

I will also mention that, of course, I've got a Kyle Katarn stuffed away somewhere who will be running into your Ben over on Bakerstreet at the earliest opportunity. And which characters, out of curiosity?

skekSa's got a place for both. :D She's totally up for hanging out with the Baron and telling stories, but she's practical when it comes to a serious exploration.

I'd really appreciate the pointers. :) I have a few Star Wars books, but most of them are back in my old apartment and I can't get them until quarantine ends.

Ooh, Kyle Katarn! That'll be fun. I'd love to interact with him. As for EU characters, I'll definitely be bringing Vergere back, and I'd love to play Revan or Mara Jade if I ever get the confidence. Mara was my favorite EU character back in the day.

Well, of course, because Mara Jade is utterly fabulous in every way. (And I feel that as an old guard EU fan, the new movies went down a lot easier because the Vong-era nonsense in the latter days of the EU did really badly by her.)

But yeah, I'd never bring Kyle here since Sariss already is (she doesn't need a bete noire around) but that's going to happen.

Mara is amazing and I want to play her once I've properly canon-reviewed and voicetested. When I play a favorite character, I feel a lot of pressure to get them right. XD

Looking forward to it. I'm in the position of being a relatively new Star Wars fan introduced to the series through the new movies and who's currently exploring the old EU, so it'll be a lot of fun.

I got into it when I was in high school by randomly finding Timothy Zahn at the library. I'd seen the original trilogy, but Heir to the Empire is what got me and kept me an SW fan.

So, y'know, Mara forever, basically. I'm still hoping she somehow makes the jump to the new universe. Tie in some nicer threads for new-universe Luke. I mean, if Thrawn made it...

I can geek out about Star Wars all day long. XD The Zahn books are on my to-read list, for sure, since they've been recommended to me so many times.

Mara's one of my favorites, yes. I need to play SW video games again, since there are so many good memories of the original Battlefront and the KOTOR games.
