no subject
Anger: Confront the problem head on. Steve is so confrontational when he's pissed off. He will get in your face and rip you to pieces verbally and if that doesn't work he's got the power to back it up.
Sadness: With One exception Steve is very good at compartmentalizing his anguish and emotions to get the job done first. He'll be the leader people need and then retreat to somewhere private to deal with his sadness in his own way.
Fear: Adrenaline is adrenaline. If he's getting it from being afraid he probably should be afraid and ought to be careful/
Happiness/Excitement: Big open wide smiles, lots of hugs and pats on the back. Steve wears his happiness on his sleeve and does his utmost to enjoy it when he has it.
Love (Consider the "Five Languages of Love"): Acts of devotion are huge for Steve. He will bend over backwards to do things for the people he loves. Favors, chores, making things--he wants to show how much he cares and words alone just aren't enough for him. Physical contact is also big.. He's always got his hand on their arm, their shoulder. Letting them know he's there and he'll do whatever it takes to protect them.
Lust:
First of all shame on you for making me think about this in the context of Captain America. Steve is a patient guy and not the sort to rush his partner. He's pretty good at playing it cool until he can find a private and appropriate time to ask his partner to bed.Is probably also guilty of eyefucking someone while he daydreams about inappropriate things. Likely to have a 'private' sketchbook somewhere.
Stress/anxiety: Steve's got a lot of practice performing under extreme stress and pressure. Will maintain composure under even the most problematic circumstances. May snap at people if they aren't taking things seriously.
Dislike (of a person, thing, or idea): If Steve doesn't like something or someone he lets them know right away. He won't beat around the bush about it.
Approval (of a person, thing, or idea): He does his best to support whatever/whoever it is without overshadowing them. Everyone deserves their time to shine.
How does this character generally express themselves? Steve's learned how to be a pretty good speaker. He chooses his words carefully and unless he's clearly joking he means every single one. In a combat situation though he'll let his actions speak for him and his beliefs.
What does this character think/feel about-
Marriage: A special thing he's pretty sure he's missed out on, Peggy was the only gal for him in that boat he's pretty sure.
Children: The future. Steve wants to make kids feel like they matter and can make a difference.
Family/Family Values: These mean less to Steve now than they used to. Before he went into the ice, he wanted those things. When he came back out, they had all passed him by.
Children/Youth: Endlessly curious and inspirational. Also a little terrifying. He does not want to hold your baby, Ma'am he's afraid he'll break it if he breathes.
Old age: At peace with the concept. Knows it will take him a very long time to age normally with the serum.
Sex: There's a time and a place for everything. Right time, right place, consenting adults? Cool.
Love: Steve's always had a big heart and couldn't stop loving the people he does if he wanted to. He loved every moment he spent with Peggy while she was in her last years of life even though she had aged beyond anything he could have expected. Love is a big part of Steve's life and what motivates him.
Friendship/Other relationships: Finding a group that you can trust your life with is a precious thing not to be wasted. Steve is grateful to have found people like that here in the Nexus.
Homosexuality: Steve's personally alright with it but comes from a time when you had to keep that sort of thing to yourself so he can get a little embarrassed. It doesn't discourage him from talking about it though. He feels that the movement toward accepting all people is one of the better parts of the future.
The opposite sex: Scary powerful in their own ways. He has a lot of respect for women.
The same sex: A bit more comfortable with men than women. Can be more casual with them easier.
Money/Material things: As a child of the Great Depression, Steve is used to having neither. He still ends up donating most of his money and things to charities. Doesn't want anyone else to go without.
Politics: Necessary but very unpleasant.
Religion: Steve was raised in an Irish Catholic house and does his best to uphold the values he was raised by even if he no longer attends church regularly. His job makes it difficult to do.
Destiny/Duty: Destiny is a mystical idea he doesn't really understand but duty is very important to him. He believes in helping his country, helping other people. Just helping in general.
Magic/Myth:Much less skeptical of it than he used to be. He's been proven wrong enough times by now. They both exist in some capacity of another. He just needs to know how to fight them.
Racism/Races in general: Steve doesn't put up with racism or bigotry from anyone. He's against bullies of all stripes.
Science/Technology: SO useful! He's learned a lot since coming to the future and the Nexus.
Nature/Animals: Steve doesn't have a whole lot of experience with animals being a city boy born and bred. He had to learn about nature on the fields in WWII though. He's pretty comfortable outdoors.
Modernity: A confusing place he's not sure he belongs in.
Antiquity: A nostalgic place that's passed him by.
Their past: Steve misses his old body sometimes. Misses his old life. BUt he doesn't have either anymore so all he can do is go forward.
Their future: Stoic optimism the world will continue to shape into a better place.
Their role in society/job/etc:A bit shaky right now ever since The Avengers broke up. He's been laying low since.
Drugs and alcohol: They don't work on him anymore save for a few exceptions. Use responsibly other people.
Killing/Murder: A last resort but not off the table. Whatever views he used to have on the subject have been changed by the realities of war.
Education: A valuable tool often taken for granted. Essential for continued progress. He's considered taking online classes to catch up and broaden his own education but due to time constraints hasn't been able to so far.
The foreign/unknown: A chance to learn something new. Best to be careful around it though. There's danger lurking in the shadows.
How does the character view life? A chance to make a difference in the loves of others. Something to be enjoyed for as long as you've got it.
How does the character view death? An absolute that can't be cheated or avoided forever. Most of the people Steve Rogers knows are dead.
How does the character view society? Changing and sometimes rough. Generally progressive and worth defending.
How does the character imagine his/her own death? He's not looking to die, but if he gives his life in the service of others then he'll have done well by his own views.
What does the character want out of life? To find a place he belongs and to help others.
What does this character consider "success" to be? Ridding the world of HYDRA's influence. Protecting the people of Earth.
What would the character like to change in his/her life? That he'd been able to catch Bucky before he fell off the train. That he'd have taken so many chances he missed when he went into the ice.
What motivates this character? His work and his friends.
What discourages this character? His friends hiding things from him. Having his faith in others betrayed.
What makes this character happy? Art, spending time with the people he cares about, sparring, motorcycles, his Pokemon.
What makes this character sad? Being reminded of the past he left behind. Seeing his friends suffer. Feeling powerless to help someone.
What makes this character angry? Bullies. Bigots. Dictators. Invaders. Watching people who deserve recognition be pushed to the side for the sake of image and politics.
What humiliates this character? His own failures, realizing he's not able to keep up with other people when the heavy intellectual jargon starts.
What most describes this character's personality? Honest. Steve can lie when he absolutely has to, but tends to be an open book.
Psychoanalysis (Describe why they act the way they do): At his core Steve is still the scrappy kid from Brooklyn who could never let himself be pushed down despite his size and frailty. He's stubborn and while he may not want the responsibility being a famous super hero gives him he's prepared to do whatever it takes to inspire others and fulfill his duty.
Does it stem from childhood or an event, or chemical? Steve doesn't feel like he belongs anywhere due to all the time jumping he's done. He's more than happy to try and live up to the ideal of Captain America because it makes him feel like he has a purpose. Steve's beginning to realize that isn't necessarily Him though and is trying to find out how to do right by himself still.
