3/3
Science/Technology:
Oh so useful. She would be nowhere without her phone and Friday night MMA. Also, video chat = fewer meeting with a nosy uncle.
Nature/Animals:
Animals are fine, she even enjoys their company when they're trained well. Wild animals she sees mostly as dirty and dangerous, though. She quite enjoys nature. Just keep her feet on the ground. Preferably around mountains, trees, caves, beaches or a nice bonfire.
Modernity:
Isidor is a modern woman. She's used to her creature comforts, and she happy encourages modern advancements through her company. Modernity is a side effect of learning, which is what the Durant family is all about.
Antiquity:
The foundations of the world and present day life. Something to be respected, to learn from, to draw strength from, but to improve from.
Their past:
Isidor doesn't look back too much if she can help it. She's a planner, and looking back only helps if she's learning from past experiences. Plus, it's easy to focus on regrets and past hurts so she'd rather not.
Their future:
Full of possibilities. It's impossible to tell where she or Viatorus are going to end up. It's a fun challenge to try and plan for such a changeable thing, but she embraces the task with gusto.
Their role in society/job/etc:
Isidor is Viatorus' patron. She makes sure he thrives and he can devote himself fully to his research. She knows exactly where she stands in society, in her family, and in business, and her assurance shows in her confidence. It brings her an irreplaceable sense of security and comfort to have one certain thing in her life.
Drugs and alcohol:
Drugs are a big NO. There's too much that could go wrong and she'd be too terrified to do something guaranteed to make her lose so much control. Alcohol, on the other hand, is something she can limit/regulate and she enjoys.
Killing/Murder:
It's something that right now she abhors the idea of, but she knows that she would be willing to do it in particular circumstances so she can't judge others (much) for it.
Education:
Invaluable. Knowledge is an exceptional power and essential to the advancement of civilisation. Your ancestors toiled and died discovering things to make your life better, learning what education has to offer is only respectful.
The foreign/unknown:
She doesn't like it all that much. She likes to understand things so that she can prepare for them. Sometimes she'll be aggressively inquisitive to learn about the unknown.
How does the character view life? An adventure that, if you plan for correctly, you can both enjoy and use to make your mark on the world.
How does the character view death? Her enemy, but one she respects. Her priority is to keep Viatorus alive, and to do that she has to make sure she stays alive too (she thinks).
How does the character view society? The closest thing to 'normal' people have to go on. Something her family is both very much beholden to, but also separated from. Magical society is hard to pick out and define as it tries to blend in, which leaves mages like her in limbo.
How does the character imagine his/her own death? She does her best not to, but she's pretty sure she's either going to die protecting Viatorus from something/someone or else from boredom if he lives long, quiet life.
What does the character want out of life? For Viatorus to become recognised as an Acknowledged Scholar and secure his place in magical/family history. She tries not to want anything more.
What does this character consider "success" to be? Viatorus becoming an Acknowledged Scholar.
What would the character like to change in his/her life? She would like more freedom from her family, more control over her own life.
What motivates this character? Her love of Viatorus and her own need to succeed, her pride.
What discourages this character? Failure/being wrong, especially if she doesn't understand how. Viatorus strongly contradicting her.
What makes this character happy? Succeeding/winning, seeing Viatorus happy, making Harrowheart proud, compliments/acknowledgement from her father/uncles.
What makes this character sad? Making loved ones upset by trying to protect them. Loneliness. Not being able to change/improve/succeed at something.
What makes this character angry? Someone doing a stupid move in MMA. Also people insulting her/her family/Viatorus. Loved ones trying to ignore her advice/concerns to do something stupid.
What humiliates this character? Failure. Being made fun of. An inability to do tasks, especially when other people consider them simple.
What most describes this character's personality? Proud, fiery, stubborn.
Psychoanalysis (Describe why they act the way they do):
As the firstborn of 'the Dragon Archon', Isidor had a mixture of great expectations and generous praise heaped onto her. She was expected to be strong, unwavering, smart and talented, and she didn't hesitate in proving everyone right. Success brought her into the limelight and closer to her family, failure was met with disappointment and coldness. She had all the time in the world to focus on self-improvement, which is why they're so important to her and she can't tolerate being 'lesser' very well.
Viatorus is the one who reminded her to keep some gentleness and emotion in what she does, but as a result she reserves it almost exclusively for him. Growing up with people so eager to use her to get to her family (specifically her father) is why she's so suspicious of others, why she's so hesitant to trust, and why even friends get her 'public relations smile' as she keeps them at a distance. There is also an element of taking on her parents' issues/habits without having the same/any reason to except that she was taught to be like this and rewarded for it. Despite all of this, she's not stupid or ignorant of the modern world she's a part of. She knows not all her habits are good and she's trying to find that balance between what her family and the rest of the world look for from her. It doesn't leave her very much time for herself.
Does it stem from childhood or an event, or chemical?
It was definitely taught to her from an early age with a few events reinforcing her world view.
