Character Questions: THE TEST RUN

Hey everyone, it's Gish! I had a thought earlier this week about how much fun it is to fill out FORMS. Which is to say, filling out questionnaires and quizzes about your character(s). It was something that went around a lot more with the old LJ Nexus days and in a curious attempt to bring it back in a new way, I thought I'd try this!

Under the cut is a questionnaire about character basics. No one's required to fill this out, or even fill out ALL of it. This is just for funsies and a chance for all of us to talk and think a bit more about our characters.

Depending on how this goes, I might look into making this a regular thing on the OOC comm with different focuses and themes. Anyway, have at it! I look forward to reading any and all responses!

Nickname: Kacchan, Big Suou, Pansy, Spanky

Socioeconomic level as a child: About middle class. He had a very average upbringing.
Socioeconomic level as an adult: About the same
Birth date: Dec. 30th, 1974 but the date is a bit sketchy since he hails from an alternate universe that was created when another version of his younger brother failed to save their world.
Birth place: Sumaru, Japan
Current residence: Still living in Sumaru
Occupation: Detective in violent crimes department of Sumaru PD, Co-owner and baker of Crossroads Cafe in the Nexus
Title/Rank: Sergeant
Hobbies/Pastimes: His passion for baking and pastry work is now a second job to him so apart from that, he's skilled at the acoustic guitar. Prefers to play flamenco music. He learned so he could help teach his little brother how to play the guitar as well and found he rather enjoyed it. Also enjoys crossword puzzles, history, and keeps a keen eye on the fashion trends of his world.
Talents/Skills/Powers:While not naturally gifted with superior intellect or talent, what sets Katsuya apart from other officers is his work ethic and ability to endure any obstacle between him and the solution to a case.

Due to getting caught up an a plight to stave off the end of the world, he also has the ability to summon a Persona. This manifestation of Justice and his will takes the form of a Victorian dressed catlike creature with a pistol and an affinity for fire. When channeling Helios, Katsuya can withstand normally lethal physical attacks (including gunshots) with only minimal damage and possesses abnormally high strength. Cannot be harmed by fire.

These abilities are gone when he is not channeling his Persona. Through years of mastering his skills he's finally begun to use Helios in more subtle ways than just brute strength and raining fire down on enemies. As the least magic able of his comrades, however, his skills are a bit lacking compared to theirs.

Past History

Hometown: A small house in the Rengedai district of Sumaru. His family moved further into the city after his mother passed away and his father was framed for corruption and arrested.
First Memory: Sitting on his father's knee while he read the newspaper aloud to Katsuya.
Most important childhood event that still affects him/her: The death of his mother when he was ten.
Why/How? It was the moment his childhood ended. He began raising his little brother from that moment on in her place while their father continued working for the police.
Other memories/events that still affects him/her and why/how: Tatsuya's sixth birthday. He exclaimed that he loved the food Katsuya had made. Katsuya was so proud he ended up throwing all of his time into cooking and baking.
Past failures s/he would be embarrassed to have people know about and why: Not standing up for himself when he was in high school. He had a full scholarship to a culinary school overseas but when his father proudly asked him when he was going to take his entrance exams for the police academy, Katsuya didn't try to pursue his dreams.

He's been a bit strict with his younger brother in the past because Tatsuya seems so aimless. Katsuya doesn't want him to end up settling like he did. But he realizes it's a bit hypocritical because he didn't even try, really, when he was his brother's age.
Biggest role model: His father
Why? Masayori Suou believed in upholding the law and protecting the people of Sumaru. He worked tirelessly to rid the community of violent offenders. When he was framed and arrested for corruption Katsuya became bound and determined to clear his father's name.
Biggest challenge from childhood: Katsuya's always been a quiet sort and had a difficulty making friends when he was young.

Describe their smile: Rare, but soft. Katsuya puts himself out there as an in charge and confident person, but he's really just a quiet awkward nerd who likes to make cookies.
Tattoos/Scars? Has a small scar on his back from childhood. He fell onto some rocks trying to catch his brother when he fell out of a tree and hurt himself protecting Tatsuya. Ended up getting stitches.
Glasses/Contacts? Prescription glasses, though he prefers to wear tinted sunglasses to hide the fact that he looks young for his age.
Left/Right handed? Right handed
Distinguishing features: Those sideburns.
Who does s/he take after; mother or father? Despite trying to take on his father's mantle, Katsuya takes after his mother in mannerisms and looks.
Style (Elegant, shabby, etc): Chic professional. Katsuya tries to keep up with the latest trends in business fashion in an attempt to look at his most professional and respectable.
How does s/he dress or what do they typically wear? Wears a charcoal grey suit, red button up shirt, and tie most often.
Other outfits one might find in their wardrobe: Black slacks and an assortment of button up shirts. This is what he considers to be "casual".
Jewelry: Silver wristwatch that belonged to his father.
Other accessories: Prescription glasses that are tinted red.
Weapons: Semi automatic pistol
Health: Katsuya doesn't get sick easily and is very active so he's in good health.
Hygiene: Borderline neurotic. He's a very neat and tidy person, and this includes his personal hygiene.
Physical Flaws: Occasionally smokes.
Physical Qualities: He looks remarkably babyfaced without his styled hair, tinted glasses, and professional attire. Absolutely despises the fact that he can't grow a beard to save his life.

Katsuya abandoning his dreams to avoid disappointing his father is breaking my heart a little. I'm so glad he's able to pursue them in the Nexus!

Also he and Stratos need to start, like, an elder brothers' exasperation club or something. There will be tea.

That's a recurring theme in Katsuya's story. Giving up what he wants for what he feels he has to do.

I'm really glad he gets a shot at doing his thing in the Nexus too. He could have easily been promoted from sergeant by now (six years ago in game time from the rank he was at during persona 2) but Nexus plots and now the bakery have become more important to him.

It's good to see him doing something for himself. It's kind of a first.
