Hey everyone, it's Gish! I had a thought earlier this week about how much fun it is to fill out FORMS. Which is to say, filling out questionnaires and quizzes about your character(s). It was something that went around a lot more with the old LJ Nexus days and in a curious attempt to bring it back in a new way, I thought I'd try this!

Under the cut is a questionnaire about character basics. No one's required to fill this out, or even fill out ALL of it. This is just for funsies and a chance for all of us to talk and think a bit more about our characters.

Depending on how this goes, I might look into making this a regular thing on the OOC comm with different focuses and themes. Anyway, have at it! I look forward to reading any and all responses!

Also seconding how it's fun to read the two different Jims back to back and see how things differ and things stay the same. (Sexuality clearly is a slam dunk. Who cares about gender, let's GET OUR BONE ON)

Tbf, if you're already dealing with alien anatomy in bed, another human of the same sex isn't that weird. ;)

Goooood question, lol. Under the right circumstances, maybe? Jim knows he looks pretty damn hot, but I don't think he'd come up with, and go through with, the idea on his own. It'd be like making out with a mirror. (Not to say he hasn't possibly done that as a teenager.) But I don't think he'd complain if he had to kiss himself to save the planet either, lol.

ON A MORE SERIOUS/SINCERE NOTE: This whole Tarsus IV thing is wild and it's news to me in general. What part of canon is this covered in? (I've only seen the first movie, so if it was there, I clearly am a chump who doesn't pay attention.)

It's from the twelfth episode of the original series, The Conscience of the King. It's part of Kirk Prime's backstory, and fandom has pretty much decided unanimously that it's too tempting a source of angst to not have it be part of reboot!Jim's backstory too. The actual canon details of what happened on Tarsus IV are pretty sparse, so everyone's got their own take on it, but the fungus wiping out the crops is canon, as is the resulting massacre (a man named Kodos seized power in the crisis and chose half the colony to die based on his own eugenics theories, and Kirk and eight other eyewitnesses survived). Help arrived earlier than Kodos expected, and he faked his own death and disappeared. Other than that, canon doesn't tell us much about the specifics.

It explains a lot of the discrepancies with Reboot Kirk being a repeat offender in the first movie pre-starfleet when Kirk Prime was such a bookish nerd, too.

But they've got it right, above. It's one of the most memorable TOS episodes and fandom pretty much agrees it should be kept in AOS Kirk's backstory.

Excuse me, Smartass Jimmy, but why the hell hasn't him knowing a bastard named Kodos come up with Naugus because he ALSO knows a bastard named Kodos. Don't name your babies Kodos is the takeaway here.

And thank you for the explanation, both of you! I was a TNG and DS9 watcher, so I never knew anything about original flavour Star Trek. I consider my ass educated now!

No problem! :D I have always been a TOS nerd so this is my fandom bread and butter. I've seen bits and pieces of the other series, but I think TOS is the only one I've seen the entirety of.

Let's just say if the name ever came up Jim would lose his poker face in a hell of a hurry. He and Naugus can have horrible traumatic episodic memories together, even.
