Getting to hear you...

I was thinking (dangerous a hobby as that is) and came across something I'd like to ask you all:

What are some of your favourite quotes from your characters? Or about your characters?

Witty one-liners, or life philosophies, in canon, from roleplay, anything and everything. I'm curious to read the quotes I might have missed, or appreciate the classics. And don't worry about bombarding me. List as many as you like!

I feel like I could quote the entirety of Iphigenia's final monologue, because it's beautiful and haunting, etc etc, but I really like this line she says to her mother, in W.S. Merwin's translation of the play:

"You brought me up to be the light of Greece. Dying, I can say it."

And then she exits the stage, singing. ;_;

There are several translations of it I really like, actually! Merwin's a poet, so that one is very flowy and lovely-sounding, but others are more "actable"--that is, more meant to be performed onstage.

I can't decide which style I prefer, honestly. Both have their merits!

This quote is so sad, but so.... proud-sounding at the same time (if I'm reading it right)? It snapshots a lot of character in just a few words. So nice.

Yes, that's exactly it! I think it really captures her personality well.
