I'm in Ur RP, Throwing Petals At It
Thought I'd put this out here before the comm got super enormous (as it totally will, 'cuz you're all the cat's pajamas).
So. For funsies, interest, and the need to practice my skills, I want to make flower arrangements based on your characters for you guys!! If this sounds like a thing you personally would like, here's how to get one of your very own:
That said, come at me bros.
So. For funsies, interest, and the need to practice my skills, I want to make flower arrangements based on your characters for you guys!! If this sounds like a thing you personally would like, here's how to get one of your very own:
1. Comment to this post with the character you want an arrangement based on. Include a brief description of their defining personality traits (nice things, flaws, anything) and any other details of their lives that you think are important/descriptive.
2. If you have any color or flower type preferences, list them! Good examples of what helps me are instructions like: "dark colors", "bright colors", "no red, please", "fancier/uncommon flowers only", etc. If you don't have any preferences, I'm also more than happy to run with personality traits and get inventive on my own.
3. As I finish arrangements, I'll reply with pictures in the comments!
4. ????
5. Flowers.
That said, come at me bros.

Tagging in with Katsuya Suou first.
Defining traits: Responsible, Tenacious, family oriented, reliable, socially awkward, bound by obligations, lonely.
Colors: Warm colors, especially the warmer hues of red rather than the more violet shades.
Flowers: Simple, yet fashionable. An edible flower or two would be appropriate ;3
Partially Edible, and Thoroughly Japanese!
Of particular note: The edible orchids, the green spider mums (native to East Asia, associated with the Japanese 'Festival of Happiness', and a breed variation on a mum that can be made into a tea), the roughly Japanese arrangement style
Note: I'd never done an arrangement like this before, and I really loved doing it! Thanks for the fun recommendation of edible flowers! It led to some very interesting google findings. ♥

That is amazing! I love how you captured the style too and the whole thing just feels so complete and aaaaaaah!
Those orchids are absolutely glorious by the way. I'm glad you had fun with it!!!

For Vanyel-
Defining traits: Curious, eager to learn, outgoing, passionate, determined, protective
Colors: Warm and/or bright colors, vivid reds, oranges, and yellows especially
Flowers: Hardy types that could be found in the wild as easily as in someone's garden; types that also have/were once believed to have medicinal properties wouldn't go amiss
For Armand-
Defining traits: Reserved, introverted, fiercely loyal to his chosen companions, lonely, rules-oriented, formerly an extremely devout Eastern Orthodox Catholic
Colors: Cooler colors, particularly blues; darker shades and stark whites would also be appropriate
Flowers: Funerary flowers, or those associated with death and mourning; also, any kinds that are especially popular for pressing and drying; ETA night-blooming anything how did I not think about that sooner
Snapdragons for the Dragonborn
Of particular note: The snapdragons in pink and yellow (aka "the dragon flower"), goldenrod (a hardy and often wild flower), and red hypericum berries (which, either this breed or a related one, have medicinal properties!)
Note: A very wild, boisterous arrangement. I loved looking up flowers with medicinal properties!
White, Blue and Fatal All Over
(With a better view of the vase visible here!)
Of particular note: Tons of flowers associated with both death and Catholicism! The white lily in particular is associated with both purity and the virgin, and is also a classical funerary flower.
Note: Catholicism really... loves its symbolism!

Edit: Working and taking more photos now, so just thought I'd check if you've had any thoughts about an arrangement. \o/

Blue, white, and yellow are definitely his colors. He has wintery themes, but that's probably not very conducive to flowers haha. Something makes me feel like there should be lillies? Maybe baby's breath like snowflakes, but I defer to you. Anything blue, white, yellow that looks cute. Deeper meaning not necessary haha
Adorable in Blue and Yellow
Of particular note: The dusty miller (silvery leaves around the bottom of the arrangement), that gives a bright arrangement a little touch of winter.
Note: The hydrangea make me think of Harrow's head/haircut. :3
Re: Adorable in Blue and Yellow
Omg link this whole thread over in the Nexus Gallery thread so everyone can always see it.

My pleasure! So, the bigger yellow ones are roses, the yellow berries are called 'hypericum berries', the little sprig of white on the ground in front of the arrangement is baby's breath, the blue clustered flowers everything's stuck in are called hydrangea, and the tall blue stalks sticking out of it all are called delphinium.
And I will certainly link it! That's such a great idea. :0
Sold!
Re: Sold!
Honestly though you gotta take all the credit here, Tea. She bought it because it was a good arrangement, and it was a good arrangement because you made it!

Well thank you. ♥ I tried my best. <:

One question to help my Jak noobliness: what's 'eco'?
no subject
Eco-logical
Of particular note: The closed iris poked in and around the arrangement! If they were open (which, sadly, they weren't this time around) they'd have looked like this.
Note: Got a little experimental with this one. Hope you like it! ♥

for Iphi here:
-- defining traits: kind, brave, gentle, honorable
-- colors: saffron and bright blue
-- flowers: idk, actually? like, I've never thought about it, haha. so it's up to you!
The Princess of Argos
(With a better view of the vase and convenient decorative Grecian-esque pillar here!)
Of particular note: The vase and pillar! I thought they suited the classical Greek feel I was going for very well. Also, the yellow lily, while popular everywhere, is a variation of a breed native to Greece!
Note: I love the colors in this one. Iphi's got style.

Dav's defining traits: loyal, outgoing, friendly but easily angered
Colors: Dark blue, silver and white
flowers: I have no idea, I'll leave it up to you
Not Long Ago in an Arrangement Not So Far Away
Of particular note: Similar flowers to Armand's arrangement, but placed in a very different way. (The white orchids in particular give it a very elegant feel.)
Note: How's that vase for space-age? ;9

If you don't already have enough work on your hands, here's another for Kaz:
Personality: driven, stubborn, workaholic, proud, confident, flirtatious/promiscuous, sociable, vain, talkative, curious, restless, entrepreneurial
Life stuff: Half-Japanese, half-American (born in Japan, went to America in his teens), in his present canon he's enjoying his time in South and Central America.
Flowers/Colors: Bright? Tropical? Japanese? I'll leave it up to your discretion!
Bright and Nicely International
Of particular note: So you can't see the vase (unfortunately) but it's a short, clear green cube. Very cute, and matched the arrangement very nicely. Also: spider mums (big spindly green things!) are native to East Asia, the yellow lily is symbolic of ~coquetry, and the goldenrod/solidago are very common in parts of the United States.
Note: I never get to use spider mum, and was really glad to get a chance to! It's a very unique flower and a little tricky to use, so this was great practice for me. I hope you like it! ♥

All of these are just blowing my goddamn mind. Thanks for sharing your talent with such a unique medium. And I agree with Harrow -- link this in the gallery thread pronto!

Once I figure out how I want to link it, I definitely will! Thanks for the suggestion. :D

Rogue gets thrown in here, because she would not understand at all what this was about or why. That and I am so insatiably curious about what you might come up with!
Defining traits: Earnest, stubborn, rough around the edges, somber, loyal, protective
Colors: Cool earth tones (greens, browns, blues, violets) and a hint of white?
Flowers: Simple, yet elegant. I feel like roses might be good? But as you are the flower genius, I will leave the final decision to you!
Simple Things Can Make for a Fine Arrangement, too
(With a better view of the basket visible here!)
Of particular note: The roses! Very classical, but elegant.
Note: The colors were a little challenging on this one! (Trust the Rogue to make things tricky, huh? :P) I'm happy with how it came out in the end, though, and I hope you like it too!

What a creative idea!
Colors: Please use the color purple. It's the color I imagine his chakra to be! In Sage Mode, his sales are white, so that's a nice secondary color.
But really, I'd be happy with whatever you think is best!
I look forward to seeing what Minoru would be if he were a flower arrangement!
(Also, *waves hello* I'm 19x, and I'm new here. Pleased to meet you!)
Hissssss
Of particular note: Another more experimental one! The "snake-like" green foliage stalks are called 'Bells of Ireland', and they smell great. (Although my colleagues disagree, so take that as you will. :P) I thought the curled sticks were a bit of a nice "zen" sort of touch.
Note: You can't really see it, but the vase is purple, too!
