Three Day Weekend LOL-apalooza

For a large chunk of the comm (including two thirds of the mods!) this weekend is going to be a holiday and in honor of not having to work our asses off at the office we decided to work our asses off here instead by giving you all a fun Nexus LOL post this weekend. Look for it either Friday afternoon or early Saturday morning (plus sixish hours for our friends across the pond).

With so much Heavy Plot dominating the feeds for the last several months we went ahead and took chat suggestions from our OOC Discord to generate a lighthearted Nexus LOL. Note: All LOLs are Opt In only and the duration of them is largely up to you as a player.

We had a suggestion in chat for a character's innermost thoughts to be visible to Everyone around them, but at a catch: those thoughts are expressed Exclusively via Emojis. There won't be any context or explanation of what those Emojis mean, further internal thoughts will be expressed via More Emojis. This shouldn't affect what characters hear when they speak to each other sorry Matt Murdock, no cryptic mind reading for you or is there? Please keep in mind when we say the LOL is Opt-In that means only people who are choosing to participate will have their thoughts broadcast in emoji form. Every player is responsible for their own Internal Emoji Story so if they aren't partaking in the LOL then your character will not be able to see anything from them.

Feel free to scheme in the comments below or post questions if you have any. This isn't going to be overly serious or structured, just a chance for folks to have fun.

Currently looking for a Chrome extension for Windows 7 emoji support. Most of the ones I've found are either buggy or alter data by default, which I feel wary about.

Might end up using Emojipedia to copy-and-paste instead.

Matt is the only character I'm planning to throw into this at the moment (though that may change). Because the tone isn't exactly compatible with the Infinity War plotline, I'm handwaving where this falls into his timeline to before the Snap. This is probably going to set him on a different Earth than my other MCU muses but oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I can live with it.

Testing HTML for Emojipedia images:


So this one adds height and width modifiers to the HTML for image insert like so: < img src="https://emojipedia-us.s3.dualstack.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/thumbs/120/emojione/178/raccoon_1f99d.png" height="40" width="40" >


....Weirdly enough, it will not let me add manual spaces with Enter to space it out properly. (NEVER MIND, I have "Don't auto-format" clicked for this comment to avoid making my HTML example a clickable link.) But just in case you need it, to add spaces via html, type < br > (remove spaces as with all HTML tags) and this will equal one use of the Enter key. IDK if this is because of the image or what. Recommend previewing all tags using this method before posting to avoid having to edit a ton like I have been doing just now. >.>

So far as Using Emojis in DW there isn't a hard and fast way to do it. The only way to be sure an image (even an emoji) is going to be visible 100% of the time to another person on another device is via the guidelines for inserting an image into a post.

The HTML tag to post an image is < img src= "IMAGE URL" >. Replace IMAGE URL with the image's URL.

If you usually copy and paste emojis into your text (like so 🍆🍆🍆🍆) please keep in mind that what is visible to you on your own device may not be visible to others reading this. I assume more than one person is going to tell me those lovely vegetables up there didn't show up.
