December Writing Prompts 2018

Welcome to December! 2018 is drawing to a close and we've had another fantastic year as the community has grown by leaps and bounds. Thank you to both our older members and our new additions for continuing to make this community as fun and exciting as it is. This is all because of you! And As always--

Disclaimer: I never close old writing prompts from previous months. People can and should be encouraged to post on old month's prompts and I highly encourage players to track these posts to catch stragglers or new people writing on old prompts.

Now. With that out of the way, onto this month's prompts.

December's Writing Prompts

1. In hindsight, this wasn’t the best time to go traveling.

It’s a cold, dark night, but something’s going on outside. Something that brings your character to the window, the door – maybe even lures them out into the chilly air entirely. Is it a celebration? An emergency? Maybe it’s an intriguing mystery… (submitted by [personal profile] conjuredskies)

2. Put that thing back where it came from, or so help me! (Submitted by [personal profile] outpostcook)

3. A tiny blessing

4. Passing the torch

5. Spending a quiet night inside

Every season must come to an end but there is a new one waiting for its time.

A little divine intervention.

Adia finally puts Loki's gift and Thor's advice to good use in getting her and Caspar's pokémon relocated to Atlantis.

"...I talked to Ziggy for a while today." Dee added as he snuggled up against Jay in their bunk.

"Hopefully all good things?" Jay asked, trailing his fingers through his fiancé's hair.

"Good advice, mostly... We talked about stage personas, courage, my appointments with Martyn..." he yawned softly. "Oh, and he said he liked my hair. It fits my character, and it might be my most attractive feature."

"Well, he's not wrong. It's definitely high on my list." Jay admitted.

"Oh yeah? ...What tops it?"

Jay laughed. "Oh, that's a hard one. I don't think there's anything about your body that isn't attractive. But I might be slightly biased."

Dee chuckled as Jay leaned down and kissed him. "Okay, what was the first thing that sent sparks flying?"

"The very first thing?" Jay blushed through his smile. "Well..."

Having been a fan of fantasy stories and roleplaying games from a young age, Jay had always been attracted to what one would call an Elven body type. A tall man with long hair, very thin and waif-like. Those kind of people didn't exist in the real world, his little sister was keen on pointing out, even as Jay brought home guys that could have almost passed for one if given a set of pointy ears.

"The choir was always in front of us, so the very first thing I noticed was your long gorgeous hair. Followed immediately by how thin you were. I couldn't keep my eyes off you. Second violin jabbed me with her bow at least once a week because I couldn't stop staring."

Dee chuckled. "Really?"

"At least." Jay admitted. "What about you?"

Given where the choir and the orchestra were placed, dreamy stares only went one way during rehearsals. And the first time Dee noticed Jay, attraction definitely wasn't on his mind. The man hovering over him was a nurse, and that was throwing up all sorts of red flags, not sparks. But the sparks did come, albeit a little later.

"For me, it was when you showed up at that charity event I was working at."

"Oh god, the one where I bought a guitar because you said you liked how it sounded with your voice?"

"That's the one..." he nodded. "When you walked up, the way you smiled at me... I don't know what happened, but I saw stars. Literal stars. If Jan hadn't poked me, I might still be sitting there, completely captivated by something as silly as the way the light reflected off your teeth."

Jay laughed.

"Of course... now that I know you better..." Dee teased. "...I have to give the consolation prize to your hands."

"My hands?"

"Yeah..." Dee settled in. "The way they feel when you touch me, when you hold me, when you carry me... and all the other wonderful things you can do with those nimble fingers of yours, don't even get me started..."

"Well, you're still every bit as gorgeous as you were the first time I saw you." He added eagerly. "Scratch that - you're more gorgeous. So, you can hardly blame me if I can't keep those hands off you."

Dee grinned, and their quiet night soon got a lot less quiet.
