oh. hay.

Hi, everyone! It's Louisa here (for Iphigenia and a few others~), and I am trying very hard to get back into RP. Boo, work.

So! I have a kind of getting-to-know-you game we can play. Maybe it will be...fun? Hopefully? /cringes at self

I'm curious about everyone's pups' and their respective canons, and I'm hoping others are as well! So, in this post, feel free to link to video clips/blogs/general flailing about the worlds from which your characters come from. Go wild! Wax poetic! Just be excited about media!

Also, if anyone wants to use this post as a sort of ~enabling~ thing, go right ahead. We probably all need more characters to play, right?

HIYA. 'tis I, Kinto.

I play this gal, Dia'ndria Starfall ([personal profile] pathfromdarknesstogrey/[personal profile] pathfromdarknesstogray)

She's (VERY) loosely based on the Sith Inquisitor from Star Wars: The Old Republic, which is basically Bioware Does Star Wars as an MMO for some reason.

I say 'loosely' because I only used the barest skeleton of the storyline to build on top of it. A former slave who was effectively raised by pirates until she was a teenager and displayed her Force powers in killing their captain, she was sold to the Empire and subsequently trained in the ways of the Sith.

She was eventually betrayed by her Master (for fear of her becoming too powerful and independant) in being sent on increasingly dangerous missions until she finally failed one--only she did what he didn't expect: She failed, but survived, and figured out what he was doing and swore revenge.

The Nexus pretty much picks up about two years into exile, where she's been learning things on her own, and has since gone very gray instead of Dark like she was.

On the other end of the spectrum is Fortyskey ([personal profile] dembonyhips), another MMO character in the form of one from WoW. A Forsaken Undead Warlock who's self serving, angry at the world, and uses her felfire largely to never be weak or anyone's weapon ever again.

She's used to be fairly pro-Sylvanas, but since the Lich King's died and Sylvanas has lost direction, Forty's since gone more neutral.

She cusses. A lot. The f-word is a common one among anything she says and does. It's her primary form of social defense to act like an asshole to most everyone she deals with or meets. The orcs tend to find her hilarious, since she's this skinny spitfire full of angry and bitterness.

--

I'm planning to bring my Draenei Death Knight ([personal profile] servesthelightindarkness) as well, at Harrow-mun's urging.

--

Also feel free to ask questions! I barely need any excuse to ramble about any particular subject about my characters.

I like that Dia isn't portrayed from the end of the main storyline of the Sith Sorcerer but at the pivotal point in the story where her options are basically fight or flight.

This take on the character seems really interesting to me, having played through the entirety of the core game's story arc on every class >_>;;

Also as a huuuge WotLK nerd (since that was when I was hardcore into lore and raiding) Forty also speaks to my trash mmo heart on every level. Especially on the whole disillusion with Sylvanas Post the death of the Lich King.

Indeed. I figured it'd be more interesting to play an exiled Sith who has next to no resources, and is more or less forced on the run, and having to cope with that, and learn from it, rather than one who's at the peak of her power.

And as her profile more or less states, she's not Darth Zash's apprentice (although when I'm writing her, I do picture her with the canon sith inquisitor's voice, rather than anyone else's. No one else can do the sassy tone nearly as well), but some other Sith Lord's instead so I can have more freedom to do what I want in terms of backstory and the like. Though on that note, I really should name him at some point.

Plus it makes shit less awkward with Companion characters, imho, if any of them ever turn up, since I've got my own ideas on how to play and characterize her (Plus I like the idea of her being isolated and on her own).

Good to know she's not under Zash specifically.

Since every player would play different with the companions, this makes a lot of sense to me (please tell me Andronikus 'voiced by spike speigal' Raval was your friend/husbando in that playthrough he is srsly the best).

He was until I got Ashara, who more or less gave me the idea of Dia-the-Gray-Sith as we now know her.

But yeah, she's not under Zash specifically since I figure SWTOR covered that kind of story fairly well without my help. Her former master is a Sith Lord still obsessed with history and artifacts (and it was on one of these artifact finding missions that she nearly died), but he's got different motivations than she did about it (he's not seeking immortality as such, more interested in learning from history and using it--hell, he sees Dia's survival as a kind of bizarrely fascinating thing, which is why he hasn't had his new apprentice hunt down and assassinate her yet).

And honestly, I find it interesting and fun to flip the concept on its head. We usually see Jedi go gray or straight up dark, to even Sith. While Dia probably won't ever become a Jedi (she's too passionate and emotionally driven), I find it fascinating to play with the idea, especially in a canon famous for its Absolutes.

Fortyskey was pretty much the second character I created, and the one I've played the longest (Though my current WoW main is a monk). I came into WoW like, right as LK was ending, and Cata was beginning. She was also the first WoW character to have a voice in my head about how she behaved and acted.

A very loud, very distinct voice.

I love Sylvanas as a character, and even seeing her go down the very dark path she's going down is wicked fun, but Forty, as someone who initially worshipped her is pretty much like we joked in the chat.

Just. You know.

Slides slooooowly out of frame.

Mostly she's just tired of this shit (Especially after Garrosh pretty much destroyed the Vale of Eternal Blossoms). Everyone doesn't necessarily have to get along, but: "You fuckers could at least SIT DOWN AND BE FUCKING CIVIL FOR ONCE IN YOUR DAMNED LIVES."

I started around the middle of the Burning Crusade and played through the beginning Cata, though our Guild DEVOURED the WotLK expansion.

I've also played through warcraft 2 and 3, so seeing Sylvanas as she was before WoW only makes her character cooler IMO.

Like with Hearthstone and SWTOR, my interest in the game's for the lore, and I typically play pretty casually. I do old raids when I can flatten them myself since I got tied up in guild drama a couple of years back, and basically washed my hands of it since it was just a great big mess.

A mess that ended with the part of the guild I initially sided with going 'lol we're moving servers. can't afford it? just make a new char'.

I was kinda salty from that whole thing.

I've since joined what's left of the original guild, cause they're all mellow folks like me who're really casual players.

And I haven't played the RTS's, though I've pretty much devoured all the info on them, storywise.
