June Writing Prompts!

It's that time again!

Hard to believe it's already June isn't it? Starting this Month I am going to be creating a Master post on my mod journal archiving and linking to the old writing prompts should people wish to tackle old ones or just read what others have written again. As soon as I have that up I will edit this post to include the link.

As always--

Disclaimer: I never close old writing prompts form previous months. People can and should be encouraged to post on old month's prompts and I highly encourage players to track these posts to catch stragglers or new people writing on old prompts.

Now. With that out of the way, onto this month's prompts.

June Writing Prompts

1. In the most unlikely of places.

2. Thanks, Dad.

3. Your character has stumbled upon a place they loved when they were young. An old clubhouse or secret base, their old room or home, the exact spot they used to run off to go play. How do they react being back now after so long?

4. "It won't happen again."

5. "I can't." (submitted by [personal profile] heirtothedragonsfire)

The post-chuunin exam celebration had finally come to a close. Delegates as well as extended family had returned home, missions resumed and life began to go back to normal in Konohagakure. Except, of course, for one shinobi whose path was anything but normal.

"Minoru. May I have a word with you?" The Hokage approached his son. "In private."

His usual smile turned nervous as he followed his father into his office. He could feel the ANBU guards glaring at him until the large doors closed. He wasn't surprised - given his dramatic entrance earlier in the week and his even more dramatic exit a couple of years ago...

"Do you have any idea what kind of position you're in?"

It was a rhetorical question, but he paused in the hope that his son would actually think it over.

"You left the village after walking out of your genin certification exam, and I find out through a report on my desk by your then-future sensei claiming that you'd gone rogue. I find out through one of my trusted jonin regretfully consoling me in advance of having to send out assassins after my own son!"

"Well... I did say where I was going."

"To Ryuuchi Cave. Yes. I knew you had aspirations to study with the snakes. But you forget that the last Konohagakure shinobi in THIS world who vocally followed that path is a wanted fugitive in the bingo books of practically every country. You say the name, Orochimaru, and people don't consider alternate realities. No, they fear a monster who experimented on men, women and children alike and who my spies have confirmed is actively planning an assault on the village. And you, as strong as you were, second in your class..." He sighed. "Minoru, from the day you left, it took nearly ten months to convince not only my council, but the entire village, that you were not a traitor. And were you not my son, were I not one hundred percent convinced that your intentions were honorable, you would not be standing here right now. You would be dead!"

It also went without saying that if the Hokage been any less proficient in the finer points of diplomacy, the efforts would have likely been in vain regardless.

"But now that you're home.... do you have anything to say for yourself?"

Protocol be damned. Minoru just hopped up on that desk and wrapped his arms around his father. "Thanks, Papa."

The Hokage let out an exasperated sigh. "...I love you too."
