Coming Soon: Nexus Hunger Games

Just for fun, every so often, we like to run a non-canon Hunger Games simulator with Nexus characters in the community Discord and see who wins. Participation is not mandatory; all Tributes will be accepted on a volunteer basis only. If you have a Nexus character you would like to submit for the games, please list them here in the comments, and if you have a (color) icon you'd like to use to represent them, please provide that also. We will accept up to two characters per player, though both may not necessarily be used, depending on how many interested players there are.

Signups will close at the end of September to allow me to organize and set up the simulator. Date for actual games To Be Determined; I am tentatively leaning toward a Saturday around noon EDT (GMT-4). If this does not work for you, please let me know. We may not be able to make schedules match up for everyone, but we will do our best to allow the most people to watch.

The games will be run in the #nexus-ooc channel. I am looking forward to seeing what our roster is this time!

Edit: Signups are now CLOSED. Hunger Games are tentatively scheduled for October 10 at the aforementioned time. This is open to change if necessary, so if this does not work for you, please let me know.

Hey, for us complete and total newbies, what does this actually entail? Also, how do you find this channel on Discord? (Aside from a few private D&D groups, I’ve never really used the platform before. I am lost.)

Our Discord comm is invite only; check your DMs, you should have a message from one of our other mods with the link.

The simulator is a browser-based random scenario generator that allows us to plug in custom Tributes instead of using the canon Hunger Games ones. It does not take IC personalities or skills into account, just pits them against one another until there's only one left. The only thing participating players need to do is provide the name and icon, and then sit back and watch the results which I will post in the above mentioned Discord channel, one in-game day at a time, with space for audience commentary in between. It can be fun to see what RNG trends present themselves (we have had rounds where everyone was constantly gifted mysterious hatchets, for example) and work out little silly headcanons about why things are happening, and of course cheer for our own characters or our friends. Once you're in the Discord server, I can link you to one of our last games, and you can see for yourself how they usually go.

Will do! Do you have a preferred icon to use? The more colorful, the better, as dead Tributes will have their icons changed to black-and-white, and it makes it easier to tell who’s dead at a glance. The icons with keywords “do not pet cat” or “warned you” would be my choice.

Excellent. Is there a color icon you'd prefer? The default icon is the most saturated, but if you have another color icon you'd rather use, we might be able to make it work instead.
