The Nomad
The Nomad is a free, tabloid-format "alt" newspaper with circulation throughout the Nexus. They can be found stocked in newspaper boxes, heaped in racks near the doors of local businesses, and discarded on any number of benches.
A sample of headlines and recurring features includes: So You've Been LOL'd, Nexus Foodie: Your Guide to Interdimensional Cuisine, Alternate Universes: High School, Coffee Shops, and Steampunk, Ten Best (and Worst) Worlds for Your Next Vacation, Nexus Love.
It's hard to say who edits and distributes this rag, but it shows up regularly and reliably prints any submissions left in the locked slots located on the Nomad-branded newspaper boxes around the Nexus. The publication only asks a nominal fee be included with the copy.
Nexus denizens may purchase:
- recurring ad space throughout for businesses and products (full-page or margin)
- classified ads looking to buy/sell goods and services
- list employment opportunities
- seek employment
- seek housing, roommates, or tenants
- take out a personal ad
- ???
OOC: The Nomad is part world-building, part distribution of IC information. As stated above, this can include goods, services, or whatever other published fluff you might want made available without relying on word-of-mouth or having your character constantly hawking stuff in the Nexus. Unless otherwise noted, assume that your character's ad will run on a recurring, weekly basis and can be read by whoever picks up a copy. Feel free to refer to this publication creatively in narrative: have your character write or refer to articles, etc.
Ideally, this is a way to make passive RP connections and not intended to replace active, one-on-one interaction.
