August Writing Prompts!
It's that time again!
No, your eyes are not deceiving you. I am back with monthly writing prompts aplenty! Sorry we missed out on July. IRL issues kept me swamped for most of the month. But I'm back baby, and I come bearing inspirational brain ticklers to motivate your muses.
As always--
Disclaimer: I never close old writing prompts from previous months. People can and should be encouraged to post on old month's prompts and I highly encourage players to track these posts to catch stragglers or new people writing on old prompts.
Now. With that out of the way, onto this month's prompts.
1. Let's go on an adventure
2. Lost and Found
3. Your character is caught in an unbearable heat wave. Humidity, high temperatures, and no air conditioning or magical ways of keeping cool. How do they beat the heat?
4. "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."
5. Caught in a sudden storm
Bonus Audio prompt!

"Minoru, when are you going to stop wandering like that and settle down?" Isamu would often ask his brother.
"When are you going to retire?" He'd usually counter. And the match would end in a draw.
Eventually, Isamu did retire. His reign as Hokage was much like the Third's - long and prosperous. He was 71 when he finally stepped down, picking a successor in the form of one of his eldest son's students.
When news of the retirement reached Ryuuchi Cave, Minoru honored his word. He bid the Great Snake Lord Elders farewell and returned to Konohagakure. He found a small apartment not far from the spacious home Isamu was given for his years of service to the village and attempted to make it his own.
Some things were easy to get accustomed to - hearing cries of 'Grandpa Minoru' from his great nieces and nephews, for example. And having to watch his back from the pranks his brother played on him like they were both fifteen again. Isamu may not have been as spry a shinobi as he was in his youth, but he was many decades wiser.
Other things weren't so simple. Everything Minoru owned in the past fifty years could fit in a pouch. He didn't know what to do with an apartment when even a bed made the entire place feel cramped. And while the younger generation hung onto every word of his tales of adventure, telling them felt almost like a chore.
He tried, though, always with a smile on his face. But as a year passed, Isamu could tell that his brother's heart wasn't in it. No, Minoru was still a snake sage down to his core. He needed to constantly shed his skin. He needed to roam, to wander, to be free. He'd kept his word, but he wasn't happy.
Isamu knew what he had to do.
He arrived at Minoru's home late one night.
"Hey, are you still awake?" He called as he knocked.
"Yeah." Minoru answered. The sound came, not from inside, but from the roof. Isamu looked up, both surprised and entirely not surprised to see Minoru lounging there.
"Is there room for one more?" He set down what he was carrying, and reached out his hand.
"Always." Minoru smiled as he took it, pulling his brother up as he jumped.
Isamu landed beside him with a contented chuckle. "Some things never change, do they? For being a Snake Sage, you're never on the ground."
"Not if I can help it." He smirked, turning back wistfully to where the sky met Hokage Rock.
"Never on time either, huh?" Isamu nudged him. Minoru jerked his head around, confusion spread across his face. "Here I am, ready to go, and you're not even packed."
"What th..." He rolled to the edge of the roof and glanced over. There was a knapsack sitting beside the door. When he spun back around, Isamu was smiling brighter than a genin graduating from the Academy. "You're serious!"
"I'm always serious." His replied, but the smile didn't fade. He didn't move as quickly as Minoru, but he met him on the edge of the roof with a strong, solid hug. "I've spent my entire life in the village. I think... maybe it's time you show me what's out there."
"Yeah!" Minoru laughed. "...Of course! I'd love to!"
He flipped off the roof like a shinobi half his age, landing on the ground with a satisfied grin. There was the brother he knew and loved, Isamu thought to himself as he followed, albeit with a wind jutsu to soften the landing.
"And, for the record, I am ready!" He insisted. "I never unpacked."
Isamu laughed as he tossed his knapsack over his shoulder. Minoru held out his hand, and he took it without question.
"Well, then let's go on an adventure!"
